Dr. van Zyl graduated in 1991 at the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort.
After graduating he did a stint in the Army, Potchefstroom Equestrian Centre. He opened his own practice in Moorreesburg, Swartland and subsequently joined WAHG in 2012 as one of the Directors.
His specific interests in the Veterinary field are Equine Sport Medicine, sheep herd health and fertility with Laparoscopic AI and Semen freezing.
Dr. van Zyl loves endurance horse riding and got his national colours twice. He also represented the National Endurance team as National Team Vet.
He is married and has 2 adult children.
Besides enjoying breeding sheep, Dr. van Zyl also enjoys horse riding in his free time.
